Remus Choy, 44, last month was arrested by the police after losing control of his car and causing a crash onto the pavement. He admitted to drink and driving without care and attention. Yesterday, Remus was back in court to hear his sentencing.

Remus was arrested on 1st May after he lost control of his car and crashed onto the pavement. No-one was hurt but Remus was caught over the limit after taking a breathalyser and later was charged by the police.

Yesterday, Remus appeared in court spotting a dark suit and accompanied by his manager Sandy Lam, his brother and sister in law. Remus sat down next to Sandy and appeared to be anxious and also sighed a few times.

The judge commented that the incident luckily did not happen during the peak hours and no one was hurt. Since Remus pleaded guilty to his offences and had good record for his charity work, based on the two charges, the first account will impose a fine of $2000 HKD and the second charge of drink driving, Remus will need to pay a fine of $10000 HKD. In addition, there will be a requirement to do 160 hours community service and Remus’s licence to be disqualified for 2 years. He will also need to take a driving improvement course. If he is to offend again, there will be a chance that he will be imprisoned.

After the court hearing, Remus was seen leaving the court premise with his brother and sister in law. He looked relieved and even bought a small smile when approached by reporters. He responded: “ Thank you for your concern.” Then quickly left in a car.

Later, reporters called Remus on the phone and asked of his thoughts about the courts decisions. Remus replied: “I did not sleep last night because of the court appearance today. Thank you for your concern. I am still working with my lawyer on this case.” Later Remus told reporters that he was tired as an excuse and then discontinued the phone conversation and hung up.
