While attending an event yesterday afternoon, Shirley suddenly announced that she had broken up with Gregory a few months ago. However, she did not explain the reason behind the separation.

Shirley, 32, who starred in various TVB dramas including Blade Heart and Moonlight Resonance, has been in a relationship with Gregory, 31, for the past nine years. The couple was previously rumoured to be getting married as Shirley was pregnant.

According to an insider, the split between the couple was due to Shirley being unhappy with Gregory's obsession with car racing and that he did not have enough money for their wedding. Shirley was also rumoured to have fallen in love with her rich ex-classmate, Andy.

Shirley was reportedly in tears when she initiated a breakup a few days ago. She admitted that she was seeing someone else, and gave a reason that "no man can accept" for the breakup. Many speculated that the reason for the split was that she is already pregnant with Andy's child.

At the same time, rumoured third party Andy, recently posted on his microblog announcing that he had finally achieved success on a 11-year-old courtship. He also wrote that he will do his best to care for and protect his other half, and that he can make her happy.

At around 7pm yesterday, Gregory, accompanied by his father, appeared at his workplace at TVB.

The actor expressed his shock at Shirley's announcement and said, "I really don't know why. We never had any problems. I have yet to contact Shirley today, and I don't know why she said those things. We were on the phone two days ago."

Tears rolled down his cheeks as he continued, "I really don't know what happened and what made her come to such a decision. We have been together for so long and have been through so much."
