TVB's new big bosses, Charles Chan Kwok Keung and Cher Wang, were nowhere to be found in the station's first annual general meeting with them at the helm.
But many shareholders were glad to see an old hand step in to fill the void: 104-year-old Run Run Shaw.
The founder of the broadcasting giant - who with wife Mona Fong Yat Wa still holds 3.9 percent of the company - was all smiles when he arrived in his wheelchair.
Many journalists were not surprised that Chan was a no-show. He's also known as the Shell King - for hiding in his shell.
Wang was the subject of an even naughtier joke: some said the chief of tech firm HTC couldn't part with her new iPad.
