60s sex symbol Tina 狄娜 has died of cancer yesterday, aged 65

Veteran artist Tina (狄娜), sex symbol in the 60s died yesterday at the age of aged 65. Chan Wing Hong, her friend held a press conference to announce her death. Chan said Tina's son Michael Ma was too upset to face the press, hence he would do the announcement instead. Chan said Tina has been ill for some time, she died yesterday at 11am in the morning. Chan went on to say before Tina died, she asked her to tell the media "Weapon can kill, but pen and ink can save life." She hoped the media continue their ideal work and she would wave to them in another world.

Tina was diagnosed as having cervical cancer in 2005, needing surgery. As she had the operation in Hong Kong, she has been back to Hong Kong every year for check up. A year ago when she had her routine check up, the doctor told her there were abnormal cells in her bladder. She had another operation, but was found her bowels had problems too. She had three further operations in The Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital since . Tina became very ill at one stage, but she recovered well afterwards and was discharged from hospital in July. Her health deteriorated in March. She was transferred from Canossa Hospital back to THe Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital in March 11 this year. Tina died at 11am yesterday morning, aged 65.
